I have always been inspired by the natural artistic beauty found in wild places. The colors, shapes and interconnected landscapes of vegetation, stone, soil and water are the essence of what I try to convey through my art. The main intention of my creations is to collect some of these natural elements found in the wild and fuse them into organic designs.
Most of my work is mixed media and the bulk of my weavings and sculptures consist of locally gathered willows, tamarisk and natural stone found in the watershed of the North Fork Valley. I hand pick all the willow and tamarisk shoots for unique color and texture so that each design is distinct, and all cuttings promote regrowth to insure my work is eco-friendly. All of my work can be displayed indoors as well as out.
In my spare time I enjoy studying indigenous cultures and various spiritual practices from around the world, and this is reflected in my work as many designs incorporate petroglyph images and the spirit of ancient cultures.
A Colorado native, I have lived in Crawford, Colorado for the past eleven years and have developed a true love for the people, places and the “vibe” in this incredible valley. My body of work is a tribute to Mother Earth, and I strongly believe that developing a love and understanding of nature is vital if we are to preserve the rich, irreplaceable biodiversity of this planet.
